Yohji Yamamoto S/S 11

All the menswear shows I have seen from Milan were fantastic but when I finally looked at Yamamoto's collection, I was probably the most excited I have been about menswear since A Child Of The Jago's first collection at London Fashion Week. It is such a dynamic collection with so many intricate details to pick up on. Without sounding like a broken record, it reminded me of a Westwood collection in that it mixed the minimalistic tailoring Yamamoto is so fond of with lively prints and colours, elaborate accessories, and varying silhouettes. The quirky unfinished lapels and loose neck ties were my favourite features, however. Oh how I wish men like this walked the streets of Liverpool.

$20

Such a bloody good song. Been years now but I'll still listen given any opportunity. I do like Born Free, especially the controversial video, but you can't beat Kala.

this is one he took of me being an annoying idiot.

Breakfast and Vogue

I went to woolton village today and had breakfast in a lovely coffee shop which had the best pancakes i've ever seen or tasted. I also got to read this months vogue which has a fantastic article about two of my favourite people, Alexa Chung and Karl Lagerfeld. Rediculous wardrobe envy is a given. Though I do suggest you have a look. There is also a nice little section on Grace Coddington. The shoots aren't spectacular but the articles defiantely make up for it.

turn me well

Get to me and turn me well, I'm a tired soul.

I was told desire had a sell by date.
Well it's rotted and altered, but still remains.
Constant promise of no real change.
I didn't know you would last this long.
I didn't think I would last this long.

No vacuum is now, and here we are.
Did it hate to last, and here we are?
You squeezed my heart so tight tonight.
You must return it before you leave.

don't let them lift the whaling ban!

There has been a ban on commercial whaling for the past 24 years, and rightly so. However, on the 21st of June, the International Whaling Commission will begin a process of voting to determine whether or not this ban will be lifted. There have been many acts of protest against this but the most hard hitting is a graphic film featuring the wonderful Alice Dellal. The video is fantastic and I hope you agree, for a great cause.

I have shown my support by sending an e-protest letter, here is where you can too.

Alexander Wang Pre-Fall 2010

The Pre-Fall Wang collection has the same simplistic elegance as the Fall collection. And, it's in stores now. If only...

Sonia Rykiel A/W 2010

Sonia Rykiel is not usually a designer which I take much notice of during fashion week but this season, her collection really caught my eye. I think it was the range of fabrics and textures which she used so well that I loved the most in this collection. She explored so many themes and referenced so many trends that it is an impossible collection to hate. The combination of slouchy knits and feminine sheers, over-sized mens tailoring and flattering hem lines and her ever effervescent vintage inspiration gave me a feel of the British women at home during World War II in the time of "make-do and mend". Though she didn't fail to keep the looks modern with an abstract pom-pom head piece with each outfit. All the clothes looked so comfortable, cozy and extremely wearable, which, lets face it, is what we want in an Autumn/Winter collection. The colour palette was over-all rather muted with perfectly placed flashes of colour. I would go as far as to say that this was one of my favourite collections this season.

(Very 50's inspired, my grandmother had a dress very similar to this in her hay day, I will try and find a photo)
