FT How To Spend It Fashion Issue

There is always an amazing amount of fashion coverage in the Financial Times, particularly in their "How To Spend It" Magazines. My Mum reads all the stuff about business and money and saves the fashion stuff for me. Anyway, this week the magazine was totally dedicated to fashion. I guess most people who read the FT have insane amounts of money to spend on couture and stuff. Anyway, Iekeliene Stange was featured in their spread about the seasons trends and it was an amazing shoot so I thought I would share it with you all. Enjoy!

Svenja Specht

Svenja Specht is a fashion designer and owner of the Berlin based fashion label Reality Studio. I love Reality Studio's designs, they are a mix of eveything I love, drapery, hazy digital prints and masculine yet flattering lines. In this video Svenja Specht talks about the daily flow at her studio, the creative process and how that is connected to collaborations with some of her friends, like contemporary artist Jen Ray, Graphic Designer Julie Gayard and Onitsuka Tiger.

this is the thing.

I don't know if you noticed anything different
It's getting dark and it's getting cold and the nights are getting long
I don't know if you even noticed at all
That I'm long gone baby, I'm long gone.

And the things that keep us apart keep me alive and
The things that keep me alive keep me alone.

MAN

Some of my favourite shows this season were the menswear shows at LFW. I loved Cassette Playa as always coz I just think Carri Mundane is a genius (burly men painted gold AND she's a Minaj fan? Win). I loved the raggedy knitwear and polka dot prints at James Long. The layering and flashes of pastel colours at J.W Anderson were dreamy and Katie Eary's collections are just getting better and better. But my favourite menswear show was MAN. I just loved the proportions of the brightly coloured knitwear teamed with beautifully cut chino trousers. Basically, they had me in love with all their models. Again, WHY ISN'T THERE MEN DRESSED THIS WELL ON THE STREETS OF LIVERPOOL?!

G-Star.

I'll be honest, I only own 2 pairs of jeans and I very rarely wear them. So, I have never really followed G-Star's shows as I expected them to be all denim and leather and I wasn't sure it would be my cup of tea. But, when I saw the show on Vice Style, I was very impressed. The clothes had a cool, wearable feel but they also showed their impeccable craftsmanship with beautifully sharp, clean cut jackets and shorts. The jeans that were in the show had a drop crotched silhouette which was reminiscent of Vivienne Westwood's MC hammer style pants; of which I am a HUGE fan. The styling was cool but also very chic and the looks, I feel, represented New York perfectly. I also LOVE the Doc Martin style red shoes and just might have to invest in a pair. All in all, I was pleasantly surprised by G-Star's effortlessly cool A/W 2011 show and will keep an eye out for further shows.

Oh, and not forgetting, G-Star have named Gemma Arterton the new face of the brand and let's be honest, she's rather hot. Plus the campaign was shot by Anton Corbijn (director of Control) who is a fucking brilliant photographer. See her interviewed along with other videos and interviews at Vice Style.
